A birds-eye-view of the incredible work being done by our Conscious Kitchen teams since the start of the COVID-19 crisis.

March 16, 2020 – Bayside MLK and Willow Creek Academy close due to COVID-19. Conscious Kitchen chefs begin preparing meals for students to pick up outside of Bayside MLK in Marin City. We heard from volunteers that parents picking up meals asked if there may be extra food for them. And at that moment, we realized the degree to which needs stretch beyond the kids we serve.

March 17, 2020 – Bay Area ‘Shelter in Place’ order begins.

March 19, 2020 – World Central Kitchen commits to partner with Conscious Kitchen to support labor and food costs to nourish families in Marin City. Our operation expands opportunities for procurement.

March 24, 2020 – Conscious Kitchen becomes part of the Marin City Food Team and partners with Bridge the Gap.

March 30, 2020 – Conscious Kitchen officially launches a partnership with World Central Kitchen to meet rising feeding needs.

March 31, 2020 – Chef Dolores joins our team to open a third Conscious Kitchen in San Rafael, preparing community dinners for Marin City youth and families, with distribution in partnership with Play Marin and Bridge the Gap.

April 1, 2020 – Conscious Kitchen hires staff on the ground to lead community distribution from multiple accessible points across Marin City, based on intimate knowledge of the community and its needs.

April 2, 2020 – Conscious kitchen begins serving hot lunch to 125 seniors daily, delivered safely and individually to their homes.

April 3, 2020 – Conscious Kitchen completes the first week of ongoing community dinner service across three sites in Marin City, approximately 450 dinners a day, served from 4-6pm.

April 9, 2020 – Conscious Kitchen delivers the first round of fresh, organic farm boxes to Marin City residents in partnership from Tomatero Farm, to fantastic response.

April 17, 2020 – 10,000th meal served!

April 21, 2020 – Conscious Kitchen makes first delivery of hot meals to frontline workers at MarinHealth in partnership with World Central Kitchen.

April 28, 2020 – The first Conscious Kitchen x Tomatero Farm Box pop-up sells 226 boxes with 113 donated to Marin City.

April 28, 2020 – Service also begins outside Willow Creek Academy for breakfasts and lunches, in addition to ongoing availability daily outside Bayside MLK.

April 30, 2020 – CK hot meal service begins weekly for students and families at Venetia Valley School drive thru in San Rafael.

May 1, 2020 – 20,000th meal served!

May 4, 2020 – Conscious Kitchen serves homeless and sheltered families in partnership with Marin County VOAD.

May 11, 2020 – 25,000th meal served!

May 15, 2020 – 30,000th meal served!

May 18, 2020 – Started weekly meal deliveries to Homeward Bound.

May 26, 2020 – First meal deliveries to residents across Marin County section 8 housing.

June 12, 2020 – 50,000th meal served!

Aug 21, 2020 – 65,000th meal served to close out the summer program.

Nov 26, 2020 – 503 Thanksgiving baskets delivered in Marin City with CK organic produce.
