Responsibilities:
Conscious Kitchen, a program of Turning Green, is seeking a Program Manager to oversee grant-awarded Farm to School programming focused on expanding local, seasonal, organic food into school meals in the Northern California region. The project builds upon our most recent successes working with West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) as they transform their school food system. The program manager will coordinate with ongoing WCCUSD teams, build upon this work to lead the development of guides that other school districts can use, and support other districts interested in bringing more fresh, local, organic scratch cooked meals to their students. In addition to working with school food service departments, the Program Manager will be helping understand and support an active group of farmers that are interested in expanding their organic products into the school market. Our efforts actively support both the supply and demand sides of the school food marketplace to improve offerings for students in the region.

Tasks Include:
● Oversee regional meetings with food service departments and farmers/ranchers to understand needs, barriers, and support connecting them through organic products, seasonal recipes, and procurement support.
● Develop and maintain an active pool of CA-grown organic supply sources from direct farmers, ranchers, and producers, as well as distributors, and local coop networks.
● Help school districts actively track and report on their efforts to expand organic procurement and buy more fresh seasonal products from local sources.
● Coordinate with food service leadership on new menus and promotions that feature “Organic of the Month” produce, seasonal recipes, and specific local products.
● Prepare for, oversee, and communicate the results of special event programming.
● Work with our Education team members to develop organic focused educational programming that is seasonal and aligned with local, state, and federal opportunities.
● Arrange and coordinate technical support to both farmers and school food service professionals as they undertake organic expansion initiatives.
● Oversee, track, and report on the development and outcomes of grant deliverables.
● Oversee Turning Green interns/fellows that support project deliverables.
● Manage program budgets and complete all grant/district required reporting on schedule.
● Work with communications-focused team members to craft and implement written and visual communication materials.
● Support fundraising opportunities for the program and help connect school and farmer partners with grant options that are aligned with their needs.

As we continue to expand our work with Northern California school districts, we seek a self-directed, values-focused team member to grow with us. The Program Manager will work closely with Conscious Kitchen’s Executive Director and team members. The successful candidate will need to be highly organized, able to manage multiple projects and priorities, and work well with farmers, school district professionals and other key stakeholders. The Program Manager will work independently and collaboratively, both in person and remotely to manage and achieve all aspects of this groundbreaking and layered project. The successful candidate will work with Conscious Kitchen (based in Sausalito) and food service teams in and around the San Francisco Bay Area.
